How can you tell when one color is too much?

If you want to get creative and add a lot of color to your room, making it the main focus – it works wonders to choose another color as a bold contrast. You can choose either way to focus the room using white walls and a splash of color, or painting your walls a bold, bright color and adding a more subtle color to break up the room.

Color choice can vary depending on room size, windows, and light fixtures. If you’re searching to make the space feel cozy or more spacious also makes a difference in what paint or fabric color may be best to add that pop.

If you’re unsure about what way to add color to your home is the best, call Nina McCarthy from A Beautiful Room Interiors for your personal design constultation: +1-603-770-1535

Winter time is the best time!

Winter time is the best time for those painting projects you keep saying you’re going to do year after year, but somehow keep getting pushed to the bottom of the ”to-do” list!

We’ve decided to take our top 3 reasons you should pick up that paint and make one of these wintry weekends the perfect time to stop procrastinating and give your rooms a fresh look!

1) When it’s too cold outside to have the energy to put on all those layers, keep the heat turned on, your painting clothes ready and get to work! Paint will dry between 50-85 degrees Fahrenheit, whether the wall insulation is thick or thin. Use fans or space heaters to help dry the paint quicker if need be . . . but remember a nice cool/warm temperature will help the paint dry AND settle as it should. Unlike in hot hot hot weather when the paint dries too fast and you’re left with an uneven finish. For winter weather, nearly odorless paints can also be used to make the fresh coat of paint not so overwhelming when the project is done. So work up a sweat while recreating your space this winter!
2) If you get your interior painting done during the winter months, that’ll leave you time in the spring (when it’s not raining!) to head to the exterior of the house, paint, and leave your summer free of home projects for you to enjoy more time relaxing, eating ice cream, or lounging at the beach . . .
3) Paint Contractors work all year round and can help make your winter time blues fly away with a fresh look in any of your rooms. Contractors will work quickly and be out of your hair in no time. Plus, it lets you cozy up by the fire with a creamy hot chocolate as they do all the work! Prices will vary, but ask for recommendations at either of our Exeter Paint stores and our helpful staff will you send in the right direction to find the right person for you.

Fun fall DIY Projects

We love sharing ideas we come up with on our own and those by which we’re truly inspired!

These two projects would be lovely for a weekend project to give you home a touch of Autumn warmth.

Photos + ideas fond on Midwestliving.com

Have an old wheelbarrow hanging around either in the back of your garage or somewhere in your backyard? Why not make it a decorative display pot for your fall flowers.

We like to use chalkpaint for almost any project . . . but really, any paint will do! Choose a color like this deep green that we can match at the Exeter Paint store – or whatever color you prefer!

Paint your old wheelbarrow, add soil, flowers + leafy plants and VOILA! A beautiful, fall display.

Take wooden frames, any color paint you’d like, and voilia! You’ve got your base to make a creative way to display the beautiful pieces of fall. For example, this deep red frame to display freshly fallen fall leafs.

“For an easy mantel display, combine brightly colored fall leaves with an empty picture frame.

Hang leaves on S-hooks (used for jewelry making and found at crafts stores) or pin to a ribbon. Put nails in both sides of a colorful frame and suspend the ribbon loosely across the center, tying it to the nails. Add to the display by spreading a branch full of brightly colored berries across the length of the mantel and setting small gourds on top of egg cups.”
