#PaintTipTuesday [013] The Meaning of Colors

We continue our “Meaning of Colors” theme with #PaintTipTuesday this week. After looking at greens and dreaming of the lush lawns and the full trees we’ll see in just a few months time (we hope!), we decided to keep with the spirit of Summer and take a look at yellows.

Meaning: “Yellow is almost always associated with happiness, laughter and good times. A person surrounded by yellow feels optimistic because the brain actually releases more serotonin when around this colour. Yellow manages to be both rich and delicate – a quality that allows it to be used in many spaces. Some shades of yellow are associated with the promise of better times.” –LifeStyle.com.au

Where to use it:  It’s best to use a softer or darker tone of yellow in the bedroom as it will lift spirits, while also emitting a restful feeling over the room. It must be used sparingly and in the right places as to not be overwhelming. Avoid the bright mustard yellows in the bedroom.

“It is a wonderful color for the kitchen, dining room, and living room because it is very uplifting and sociable. If used in the bedroom, make sure it is an earthy or pale yellow.” – Feng-shui-and-beyond.com

Some of our favorite looks with yellow aren’t only in the bedroom. We see more bold tones of yellow throughout the house in order to give that extra pop of color (and happiness!) — have fun with it and remember yellow doesn’t always mean “mustard” tones. Be creative and play with varying tones in one room.
